SASA Code of Ethics for Coaches
By signing this Code of Ethics, I agree to:
- Prioritize the well-being, safety, and development of all players above competition and personal interest.
- Treat all players, referees, parents, and fellow coaches with respect and professionalism, both in-person and through electronic communications.
- Refrain from using abusive language, intimidation, or unsportsmanlike conduct during practices, games, or team events.
- Abide by all SASA, NTSSA, and US Youth Soccer rules and regulations.
- Report any known or suspected misconduct, including abuse or policy violations, to the appropriate SASA authority.
- Avoid conflicts of interest or favoritism in team decisions, including roster assignments and playing time.
- Uphold SASA’s values by serving as a positive role model for youth athletes.
- Use only the contact information provided through official SASA player registration for all communication with families.
- Acknowledge that team communication platforms are created using information provided by the registering party, and I will direct any concerns about contact inclusion back to SASA.
SASA Code of Ethics for Players
By signing this Code of Ethics, I agree to:
- Show respect to coaches, referees, teammates, and opponents at all times.
- Play fairly, follow the rules, and do my best during practices and games.
- Accept the referee’s decisions without argument or retaliation.
- Avoid bullying, teasing, or any behavior that may harm another player.
- Use appropriate language and behavior on and off the field.
- Take care of the fields, equipment, and facilities used by SASA.
- Communicate with my coach if I have concerns or need support.
- Represent SASA with pride, sportsmanship, and integrity.
SASA Code of Ethics for Parents/Guardians
By signing this Code of Ethics, I agree to:
- Support my child’s enjoyment, effort, and skill development over winning at any cost.
- Treat all players, coaches, referees, and other parents with respect at all times.
- Refrain from coaching or yelling at referees during games.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Acknowledge that SASA is not responsible for enforcing legal custody or communication agreements between parents/guardians.
- Understand that the team’s communication platform (e.g., group text or app) is created using the names and contact information from the SASA registration form.
- It is my responsibility to ensure that all appropriate parents/guardians are listed on the registration if they should be included in team communications.
- Direct any family communication concerns to the other parent/guardian or to legal counsel, not to SASA or the coach.
- Follow all rules and procedures set forth by SASA, including expectations for sideline behavior and conflict resolution.
